Abstract

The National Meetings of Anthropology of Law (ENADIR) are organized biannually by the Center for Anthropology of Law (NADIR), based at the Graduate Program in Social Anthropology and the Department of Anthropology at the University of São Paulo. Since the first ENADIR in 2009, the event has aimed to generate new knowledge and stimulate research in the field of anthropology of law and related areas, supporting exchanges among researchers from various academic and research institutions. In this dossier introduction, we provide a brief overview of all previous ENADIR editions, with a particular focus on the eighth edition, which resulted in the dossier published in this journal issue. We consider that the programming of these editions and the content of the papers presented over these years constitute one of the most comprehensive overviews of the anthropology of law developed in Brazil during this period, allowing for an assessment of its directions and challenges. The six articles gathered here, authored by female PhDs and originally presented as papers at the 8th ENADIR, held online between August 28 and September 1, 2023, offer a concise and updated sample of this already dense and diverse field.
