This paper presents an analysis of the chacinas (slaughters) and how they fit into the dynamic of conflicts in the city of São Paulo and its Metropolitan Region, in Brazil. To this end, we seek to understand the historicity, the modi operandi, the victimization and the executing agents of this form of conflict, including the period between 1980 and 2018. In addition to tracing this historicity and, as a way of understanding more deeply the interrelationships that operate a slaughter, we also develop an analysis of a specific slaughter, the Chacina of the Torcida Organizada (organised supporters) called Pavilhão 9 (which in its name honors the Pavilion 9 lightning of Carandiru prison, stage of a massacre in 1992), occurred on the torcida’s court in April 18th, 2015. The slaughter against this torcida organizada victimized 8 fans and was carried out by military policemen and a former military policeman, of which the former policeman was taken to popular jury, being sentenced to one hundred and forty-nine years in prison. This article is outlined amongst what was this slaughter and how it was built interrelated with the historicity of the slaughters in São Paulo and its Metropolitan Region, its similarities and dissimilarities.
