Abstract

The article problematizes the category involved with crime, its plots, control maneuvers and surveillance. It is discussed how this notion has been mobilized in the selective distribution of punishment of youths in the periphery, highlighting the plot of labels that puts into operation slips of meaning between the notions of "bandit and" vulnerable ". It also analyzes the triggering of moralities that justify degrees of “entrepreneurship” or self-management of the slum dwellers and, consequently, their levels of deserving punitive therapies or “social rescue”. The involved-with category reveals a police guarding ambition maximized by the appetite for criminalization not only of individuals but also of their social ties.
